Department of Culinary Arts

Introduction
The development of culinary industry plays an important role in Taiwan. One of the major reasons is that the population employed in culinary industry is getting higher. Besides, culinary industry contributes enormously to the growth of economy. Therefore, we think culinary industry is rich with opportunities.
Department of Culinary Art in TIIT was newly established in 2011. We aim:

  • To equip students with professional culinary knowledge and skills.
  • To Strengthen ethical attitude in workplace.
  • To cultivate the capability of our students to innovate.

Teaching Goal andCurriculum Information
The program is for those who are interested in culinary art and eager to enhance skills. The main objective of the department is to cultivate culinary professionals. The courses focus on food preparation and production, skill development, practical knowledge and problem solving in a culinary environment. We offer off-campus internship at many outstanding hotels and restaurants so as to provide students with the opportunities for practical work experience. The course design focuses on two modules: Chinese cuisine and Western cuisine. Students can develop their specialty according to their interests.
Our curriculum provides students with professional and practical experience and a hands-on approach to the daily operation of a professional kitchen. The program assures students knowledge and skills with an ideal learning sequence.  After graduation, students will be prepared for numorous job opportunities from culinary industry; they are able not only to be chefs in hotels, restaurants, bars and catering companies, but also be staff members in other areas such as hospitality.
