Department of Interior Design
HISTORY
The Department of Interior Design was transformed from the Department of Architecture that was founded in 1971. It is gradually transformed form Department of Architecture to Department of Interior Design according to Taiwan's Industrial Realities of Building Construction Industry. The Development History of the Department:
1971 Department of Architecture was founded
1973~1980 Quit the Department
1981 Reopen the Department
2004 The Interior Design Program began in the Department
2013 Rename the Department of Architecture as Department of Interior Design
OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT
The educational objective of the Department of Interior Design focuses on training professional human resources of the Interior Design and Constructional Industry to match the educational philosophy of TIIT and society requirement. The detailed objectives are as follow:
- Providing students with professional knowledge and practical skills to match the requirement of Interior Design Industry.
- Establishing creative and diverse study environment.
- Training creative, innovative, and independent-thinking students.
- Familiarizing students with work ethic, team work strategies, and communication skills.
- Cooperating with interior design firms to offer internship for students.
- Cultivating students to be future architects, interior designers, and building construction managers.
FEATURES OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department is developed in three distinguished study and research fields base on the foundation of Building Construction Technology. The three fields consist of Sustainable Environment, Cultural Creative Industry, and Digital Information. These three development fields are closely related to the international and national trend of Eco-Environment, Cultural Creative Industry, and Smart-Living Architecture.
- Sustainable Environment Field: Developing design and construction strategies of Eco-Environment and Affordable Environment.
- Cultural Creative Industry Field: Developing planning and design skills for Cultural Industries associated with local cultures.
- Digital Information Field: Developing Computer-Aid Design and Digital Presentation skills, as well as associating with Smart-Living Architecture design strategies for future living.
