Educational Goal of the Department
- The Primary goal of Department of Creative Fashion Design is to equip our students with professional aesthetic vision and innovative resourcefulness for fashion designing, modeling and styling, manufacturing, and marketing. That is to say, our department aims at becoming a cradle for cross-trained fashion professionals who will invent and lead the future trends in the industry.
- Our curriculum contains the complete range of coursework, hands-on training in labs and studios, worksite internships, and individual or team design projects, etc, that will qualify our students for positions in production planning, manufacturing, marketing, administration and management, as well as equip them with theoretical and practical knowhow in innovative modeling, styling, and designing of fashions in clothing, accessories, and other items.We hope this all-round cross-training will give students the versatility and resourcefulness to adapt to the diverse and changing possibilities of professional development.
Features in Curriculum Design
- All courses, lab work, and hands-on activities emphasize integration of artistic styling and fashion designing of clothes and accessories in order to cultivate in students a futuristic sense of aesthetics and sensitivity to evolution and alterations of the trends.
- Our curriculum contains a considerable portion of activities such as visits to clothing and accessory manufacturers, fashion shops and stores, galleries and shows, etc., in order to raise and strengthen students’ awareness of developmental trends in the industry as well as their will to pursue a professional career therein.
- Another highlight of the curriculum is its emphasis on combination of theory and practice, which is characterized by the activities of workshop or worksite practical training, individual or team projects in product design, empirical
research and lab studies.
- The department also encourages and facilitates the students in obtaining relevant professional certificates and licenses, as well as in participating in relevant contests and competitions.
Curriculum Planning
The required major courses include Fiber Art, Clothing Construction, Design & Analysis of Woven Fabrics, Knitting Design, Printing Design, Accessories Design, Fashion Styling Design, Fashion Analysis & Forecast, Brand Operation and Management, etc. The elective courses include foreign languages (English, Japanese, Spanish) and those in business administration and management, as well as those related to the students’ majors.
